Four 12 oz. Gouda Beemster Vlaskaas is similar to Gouda but richer, creamier and deeper yellow in color. This premium Dutch cheese has a purple rind that distinguishes it from all other cheeses. When translated Vlaskaas means Flax Cheese and historically was produced to celebrate the harvest. The recipe dates back to the Middle Ages. Vlaskaas is made from pasteurized cows milk. It is great when sliced thick for sandwiches. |
